CASE STUDY: LEIGH SPORTS VILLAGE

The Issue
With sporting stadiums often being venues for hosting mass gatherings these iconic buildings can often be a target for terrorist and criminal activity. Lower levels of risk also exist in the form of trespass and vandalism from locals, rival supporters or disgruntled fans. The stadium welcomes visitors on non-match days to the venue to utilise the facilities which includes offices space, a health centre, conferencing, wedding and private events. Leigh Sports Village hosts the Super League team ‘Leigh Centurions’ as well as Manchester United Women and youth teams. Getting thousands of supporters in and out of a facility within a tight time frame securely and safely comes with significant complexities. In the heat of the battle, emotions can run high on and the off the pitch and on the terraces, so fans, players and coaches alike need protection inside and outside the stadium. LSV will also host several high profile events such as the Rugby World Cup, Iron Man Triathlon and the Women’s EURO 2022 which come with a unique set of requirements.

The Solution
Following a security audit and consultation PWG now provide a manned guarding solution to help protect the stadium, Sports village and outside car parks from trespass and damage. We also proactively support all major events at the stadium and provide a cohesive approach to security requirements.

The Result
As a result of our presence at LSV, we’ve improved the service provision to the client ensuring any potential risks are mitigated.
